India Greens

English

A dialogue with the Greens working in different parts of India and elsewhere over the years preceding 2017 has resulted in the foundation of the INDIA GREENS, a political party with a pan-India perspective and a commitment towards the Global Greens’ Canberra Charter or simply Global Greens Charter. This has always been felt that there was a great need to have a national Green party as Green actions in the forms of Movements and Politics were urgently called for to deal with the burning ecological issues.

“We are becoming a wasteful society,” says prominent Indian Environmentalist Sunita Narain

The Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UKPP) believes that the women are as integral and as important as the men are to a society as all humans are equal and no human is superior or inferior to other human. At the same time, UKPP is aware of the social, economic and political realities across the globe and knows fully well that in several societies, including the Indian society, women still are not treated on equal footing.

2015 Delhi Assembly Election

Today, AAP has an absolute majority to actualise its manifesto and people’s aspirations courtesy the incredible election verdict. And, of course, the challenges are many! A paradigm shift from the agitational to action mode may help the party. Another positive aspect is that the Delhi victory of AAP will put pressure on Modi for delivering. If AAP comes up to its promises, only then the signature poll-tune Paanch Saal Kejriwal (Five years for Kejriwal as chief minister) would be meaningful!

Climate Action in the Indian state of Uttarakhand

Workshops held by India's Uttarakhand Parivartan Party as part of the Global Greens climate campaign in September produced the 'Dehradun Resolution on Climate Change' appealing to the world's leadership to commit itself to climate change mitigation. Amongst other things the resolution says: the welfare of living beings has to be strengthened as part and parcel of the ecological system; there has to be a balance between consumption and production; it is very important not to haphazardly withdraw energy subsidies in developing countries; and western societies have to take a lead in reducing consumption.
