Canberra Declaration on Gaza

The following letter has been signed by a number of Australian politicians.

Kennedy Graham's speech on the Government motion on the situation in Gaza

Israel justifies its actions in Gaza in the name of self-defence. The inherent right of self-defence, sanctioned in international law for several centuries now, does not justify what Israel is currently doing in Gaza. Most jurists around the world are describing the Israeli actions as an excessive use of force and a violation of humanitarian law.

NZ needs to assist UN with aid for Gaza

The New Zealand Government should support the United Nation's efforts to raise money to assist humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, the Green Party said today.

Green Party statement on tragedy of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17

The Green Party conveys its condolences to the families of the victims of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17.

The Ukrainian Government has accused pro-Russia rebels in the east of the Ukraine of shooting down the Malaysia Airlines jet with a ground-to-air missile, killing all 298 people on board.

“This tragedy has cost the lives of 298 innocent people who have nothing whatsoever to do with the conflict in the Ukraine,” said Green Party global affairs spokesperson Kennedy Graham.

As Israeli troops enter Gaza by ground, the Australian Greens are calling on our government to exert its influence to help bring about a ceasefire.

"This is a shocking escalation of violence and it's going to mean many more deaths of civilians, particularly Palestinians, in Gaza," said Greens Leader Christine Milne.

"It is horrendous that the full military strength of a country like Israel would move against the Palestinians in Gaza, which is effectively one large, heavily populated refugee camp. It is appalling.

Israeli Ground Invasion an Aggressive Action

by Kennedy Graham

My comment a week ago on the Israel-Gaza situation occasioned considerable comment, supportive and critical.  No surprise; on such an important and sensitive issue, personal opinions run deep, including mine.

Gaza conflict: Green Party Korea statement

Israel deployed ground troops in Gaza on July 17. On this day,  the Israeli armed forces are employing military air jets and vessels to heavily bombard the Gaza Strip. Israel, equipped with immense military power, started its attack on July 8 and caused massive casualties in Palestine. As of July 17, at least 235 people were killed and nearly 2,000 residents were injured, with children suffering similarly devastating damage. Despite the international community’s criticism, Israel turned even more hard-line and stepped up its assault against Gaza.
