Canada Greens MP: Why I am marching

On Sunday September 21 I will be with my daughter in New York, marching with tens of thousands of concerned citizens – demanding action on the climate crisis. The march is timed to build pressure on world leaders and in support of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s Climate Solutions Summit on September 23.

In December 2013, I was in Warsaw at the 19th Conference of the Parties within the world’s legally binding climate treaty, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change when the Secretary General announced the summit. He wants to push governments to make real progress.

NZ Greens climate statement

The Green Party has a win-win plan to protect our climate, achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and leave Kiwi families better off.

Under our Climate Protection Plan, an independent Climate Commission will be established, and we'll introduce a Climate Tax Cut - a charge on carbon pollution, the revenue from which all goes back to Kiwi households and businesses.

Households will be on average $319 better off every year with the Climate Tax Cut.

The Global Greens call for governments in Warsaw to meet the challenge of the climate crisis and move quickly to create safe climate economies that are socially just, don’t rely on fossil fuel use and allow humanity to live within the Earth’s ecological limits.
