The Asia Pacific Greens Federation stands in solidarity with the Iraqi people as their peaceful demonstrations are met with violence from authorities, including the use of tear gas, boiling water and snipers.  This brutal crackdown is a flagrant violation of the human rights of those protesting. People from all aspects of Iraqi society have come together to decry corruption, a lack of job opportunities and basic services, and to call for impartial elections.  These people have legitimate... Climate Strike at the NZ Parliament
The Global Climate Strike  continues today in Aotearoa New Zealand.  Over 150 countries have participated including our own Federation members.  In Australia young people spoke out about their demand for action. In India young people gathered in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.  The Nepalese Youth for Climate Action took to the streets.  In the Solomon Islands, young people took to the water to show the risk of sea level rise. The New South Wales Land and Environment Court has declined permission for a new coal mine, taking into account the effects on climate change.  This is the first decision like this in NSW but hopefully not the last.  Sustainable energy is the future for all our communities and its great to see another step being taken to protect our climate and environment.   Read more
