Elections 2015

Two elections will be held at congress for the APGF:

  1. Convenor
  2. Representatives on Global Greens Coordination (GGC)

To be a candidate for either role, submit the form at the bottom of this page.  

Elections will be held on Sunday, 14 June, 2:00pm.  Nominations from the floor will be accepted at the congress.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to speak for 1-2 minutes to introduce themselves at the congress prior to the voting.

Why Vote for this Candidate:

I am passionate about developing and extending the APGF to be a more effective body in whatever way I can.

I have over 20 years experience as a Senior Project Manager managing teams of up to 40 people, and have extensive experience negotiating outcomes that are acceptable to all parties. I have a management style that is inclusive and consultative and I pride myself in being honest and open in my dealings with colleagues.

My strengths lie in organisation, coordination, and following through to make sure tasks get done in a timely manner.

I am also adept at Project financial tracking, Project scheduling, Risk management, Issue Management, and People management.

I have been a member of the Australian Greens for 20 years, and the convenor of my local branch for nearly 10 years. Over the last few years the number of active members has more than tripled.

Over the last 4 years, I have been a member of my State Council and also spent a year on the State Executive. These positions require an understanding and ability to deal with internal political issues as well as National and State politics.

I am the immediate past International Co-Secretary for Australia.  Working in this position has helped me understand and have empathy for international issues and problems.

I am founder member of Pakistan Green Party and I worked as member in membership committee of APGN, as member of MC I actively worked to increase membership of APGN. I elected as Global Green Coordination Committee in last APGF congress ,as GGC delegate I attended 80% meetings skype and 100% face to face meetings. Introduce middle working group in GGC ,due to my initiative now Middle Eastern Greens are in contact with GGC , I am expecting they soon be member of our family. 
I wish to continue my position as GGC for second term ,it help APGF and GGC due to institutional knowledge and background information about number of issues.
If i reelected I further work on middle east greens and build more linkages of APGF with other federations and parties.

Why Vote for this Candidate:

Suresh Nautiyal has been a green political activist for last four decades working on the local and national issues in India. He played a key role in founding the first Green party in India i.e. UKPP or the Uttarakhand Parivartan Party after his visit to Kyoto APGN Convention.

Presently, he is Convener of the National & International Affairs of his party and has been a Member on the APGF (previously APGN) Coordination Committee since last Congress in Taiwan. Later, he was elected as Alternate Member on the GGC. 

Besides, he is a senior journalist in India and human rights and democracy activist associated with several local, national and international organisations. 

He has edited several books, written plays and poetry. His poems have been translated into Finnish and published in a number of reputed literary magazines and anthologies in India and USA. 

He has also been a publisher, scriptwriter, documentary film maker.

He truly considers himself a green political and human rights activist. Therefore, he is associated with a number of socio-political and democracy organisations the world over. He believes in equity in all spheres of life.

He is a Masters in Human Rights with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism, and have an Honours Degree in English Literature from the University of Delhi. Besides, he did Parliamentary Fellowship.

I would like to apply to be a member of the Global Greens Coordination Committee (GGCC). That Committee will provide me with great opportunities to learn about Green Party and to build networks among APGN. 
I am a co-director of the policy committee under Green Party of Korea, a political party that draws enthusiastic people. As the co-director, I am committed to tackling challenges of Asia Pacific in cooperation with the international community such as peace, energy, climate change, economy and other transnational environment issues. GGC: Role Description

The Global Greens Coordination (GGC) is the body empowered to make decisions on behalf of the Global Greens in between the periodic Congresses. The GGC works by consensus and its roles include: 

  • Facilitating global communication and networking
  • Developing common views and campaigns
  • Encouraging joint action
  • Exchanging skills and support
  • Promoting Green ideas and values

Meetings: The GGC holds two hour meeting every two months and are required to have a face-to-face meeting twice per year, the location rotates among the federations.  The GGC elects an Executive Committee, a Convenor and a Treasurer.  By participating in the Global Greens Coordination you will be directly involved in the development & alignment of Green politics around the world.  it is a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow and make a difference in the world!

17.  GLOBAL GREENS REPRESENTATIVES

17.1.  Appointment

  1. The Congress will elect three full and three alternate representatives of the APGF to the Global Greens Coordination (GGC)

  2. From amongst the successfully elected representatives, the Lead Representative position will be given to the highest ranked appointment and a substitute Lead Representative will go to the second highest ranked appointment

  3. If a position of a GGC representative becomes vacant, the Council may appoint a replacement

17.2.  Roles

  1. The Lead Representative is responsible for coordinating the APGF’s GGC representatives

CONVENOR: Role Description

16.1.  Convenor

  1. The Congress will appoint a Convenor

  2. If the Convenor position becomes vacant between Congresses, then the Council can appoint a replacement

  3. The Convenor is responsible for coordinating the work of the Executive Committee, the Council and Secretariat

  4. The Convenor may be a single individual or two Co-Convenors of which there is gender balance

  5. The Convenor’s role and responsibilities are defined in the Bylaws

5.1.  Convenor

  1. The Convenor is the public representative of the APGF and ensures the political and strategic development of the organisation.

  2. The Convenor safe-guards & implements the Global Greens Charter by ensuring timely responses to issues relating to the Charter arising both within and external to the APGF community, including arranging negotiation and conflict management as directed by the Council.

  3. The Convenor develops common views and campaigns by overseeing the preparation of APGF statements and messages by spokespeople who must be endorsed by the Council.

  4. The Convenor encourages joint action by coordinating the implementation of resolutions passed by the APGF & Global Greens.

  5. The Convenor facilitates the exchange of skills and support by aligning the APGF services provided to its Constituent Groups so that they develop coherently with APGF & Global Greens priorities.

  6. The Convenor promotes Green ideas and values by serving as an ambassador for the APGF by liaising with key organizations (research, business, philanthropic, and intergovernmental organisations) to increase mutually beneficial relationships with the APGF & Global Greens.

  7. The Convenor supports internal coordination by:

    1. ensuring legal responsibilities are met by the Council, Executive, Secretariat and Treasurer

    2. facilitating Council and Executive meetings

    3. managing the Secretary’s work

    4. ensuring meetings are held as required

    5. ensuring the work of the APGF & Global Greens is communicated to the Members and Constituent Groups
