Greens Japan

History

"Midorino-to Greens Japan" (abbr. "Greens Japan") was founded in July 2012.

We contested the 2013 election with 10 candidates to build awareness of "Green Politics" in Japan, emphasizing responsibility to the future generation and trust in society. Regretfully, none succeeded in winning a seat.

In its first general assembly of July 28, 2012, Greens Japan announced the founding declaration, adopted the constitution, our vision and basic policies, elected the board members and decided the outline for the 2013 Upper House election campaign.

Following the election, Greens Japan held the second general assembly on September 28th and 29th, 2013 and promised its utmost dedication for the 2015 nationwide local elections and 2016 Upper House election. In our third general assembly of February, 2014, Greens Japan amended the constitution and bylaws drastically to enforce its local centers and improve the entire organization.

The rules of Greens Japan stipulate that co-representatives, board members and national council members should be elected taking into account localities, activity areas and generations, as well as securing half quota of female gender.

As Greens Japan aims to put global interests before national interests, we belong to Global Greens (founded in 2001), an international organization which put emphasis on international solidarity with the Greens in 90 countries and regions.
