Nepali Greens urges Global Greens to stand against inhuman blockade in Nepal

Following the promulgation of the constitution in Nepal, India imposed a border blockade against Nepal. The blockade has crossed more than a month but the Indian government has so far refused to acknowledge it. It, instead, has been blaming the ongoing demonstrations in the Tarai for its failure to clear customs for fuel and other imports.

Nepal calls elections as constitution deadline passes

Nepal's prime minister has announced elections in six months time after the country's political parties failed to agree a new constitution.

Members of a special assembly have been struggling for years to find consensus ahead of Sunday's deadline.

The parties were divided on the issue of whether states in the new federal system in Nepal should be formed and named along ethnic lines.

Baburam Bhattarai said there was "no alternative" to fresh elections.


Ban voices concern over tensions linked to Nepal’s future federal system

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is concerned at the rising tensions and disruption of daily life in parts of Nepal linked to the debate over its future federal system and at the failure, so far, of political leaders to forge a consensus on their outstanding differences in the country’s constitution-making process, according to his spokesperson.

“With time fast running out before the 28 May deadline for the Constituent Assembly to complete its work, it is imperative for the political parties of Nepal to rise above their differences and reach a consensus,” Mr.

Nepal Election Commission seeks clarifications from parties for failing to submit financial details

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Election Commission (EC) on Saturday issued a public notice against various 30 political parties including the ruling Madhesi parties to furnish clarifications within next 15 days as to why they failed to submit the details of their incomes and expenditures.

Issuing a public notice on Saturday, the EC has also sought clarifications as to why the parties should not be punished as per the provisions made in the Act Related to Political Parties (2058 BS) for failing to submit their financial details within the stipulated deadline.

The Nature Conservation Party, Nepal strongly condemns the inhuman behavior of the Chinese security people on NZ Greens Leader Russel Norman. This incident indicates that democracy is under attack and risk too. This type of anti-democratic behavior is not acceptable anywhere in the world.

The time has come to unite all the green parties all over the world to strongly raise a voice.

If we collectively do not speak on this case, more and more greens like Russel Norman will be the victims of the anti-human and anti-democratic people like Chinese security people in the future.
