Canada Greens MP: Why I am marching

On Sunday September 21 I will be with my daughter in New York, marching with tens of thousands of concerned citizens – demanding action on the climate crisis. The march is timed to build pressure on world leaders and in support of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s Climate Solutions Summit on September 23.

In December 2013, I was in Warsaw at the 19th Conference of the Parties within the world’s legally binding climate treaty, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change when the Secretary General announced the summit. He wants to push governments to make real progress.

Monorail decision victory for people and environment

The decision not to allow a monorail in Fiordland is a victory for all the New Zealanders who stood up for the environment, the Green Party said today.

More than 18,000 people signed Save Fiordland’s petition to protect the Te Wāhipounamu South West New Zealand World Heritage area and stop the monorail, and now the Government has finally listened.

“National clearly didn’t want to be attacking the environment this close to the election,” said Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei.
